Hotel Reservations

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that the room block at the Quality Inn in Oakdale will be canceled on May 1. If you want to reserve a room there, act quickly. There are about 20 rooms left. The phone number is (209) 847-8181 and the reservations are under "Austin/Hoyt Wedding".

Again, there is no room block at the Best Western or the Holiday Inn, but I'm sure there are still rooms available there as well. The Holiday Inn and the Quality Inn are directly across from each other and the Best Western is a quick walk down the street.

THAF: A Very Special Organization with A Very Important Purpose

A few months ago, we decided to select a charitable organization to be apart of our gift registry that would allow us to use our wedding as a way to support others in need. We heard about the Tropical Health Alliance Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit org that provides medical services, education, and poverty reduction tools to developing communities in Ethiopia. After learning about the various projects that THAF provides, we knew that we had found the right organization.

We chose THAF because of their focus on global public health and self-sustainability. Not to mention, 100% of all proceeds go to fund their projects. And so, we have teamed up with THAF and its founder, Dr. Larry Thomas, in proposing an innovative way for us, our family, and our friends to help struggling communities in Ethiopia.


Their Safe Water Project focuses directly on providing access to safe, potable water, which is very important considering every 9 seconds a child dies of water-born related illness in the world. Another major project, the Safe Birth Project, focuses on providing maternity services, primary medical care and health education for pregnant mothers.

When you come to our wedding in a few weeks, we will have packets with literature on some of THAF's projects and donation forms if you would like to make a contribution. (All donations are tax-deductible.) We look forward to seeing all of you at the wedding in a few weeks. We're really excited!

Also, we're teaming up with Dr. Larry Thomas for another option if you can't stand the mall. Dr. Thomas started an organization that is near and dear to our hearts called the Tropical Health Alliance Foundation. This organization is designed to provide medical assistance, educational training, and poverty reduction in the 3rd world. We are so excited to have our wedding be a party of this man's mission. When we have the "gift registry" set up, you'll be the first to know!

So, you know the date, the time, and the location. Now, where are you going to stay??

We have chosen three hotels, all in Oakdale, for lodging accommodations for our friends and family. Because of the holiday weekend, we suggest reserving your room as soon as possible.

Holiday Inn Express, 828 East "F" Street.
You can call (209) 847-9121 to reserve your room. We have a room block, but rooms are limited. All the rooms are under "Anthony Austin", so when you call have them switch the room to your name and provide them with your payment information. You can also reserve rooms online at www.hieoakdale.com.

Oakdale Best Western, 1450 East "F" Street.
You can call (209) 845-2500 to reserve your room. There is no room block here, but the Best Western does know you're coming, so you can mention the "Austin/Hoyt Wedding". You can also visit www.bestwestern.com/ramainnoakdale for room reservations.

Quality Inn of Oakdale, 825 East "F" Street.
You can call (209) 847-8181 to reserve your room. We have a room block, but rooms are limited. The rooms are under the "Austin/Hoyt Wedding". Just call, reserve your room under your name, and provide them with your payment information.

All the rooms are non-smoking (in the room blocks), come with continental breakfast, and are approximately 10 minutes from the church/reception. The Holiday Inn Express is across the street from the Quality Inn and both are less than half a mile from the Best Western.

The Big Day

Hey Everyone!

So, if you don't already know, our wedding will be on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Oakdale, CA.

The ceremony will take place at River Oak Grace Community Church in their outside amphitheater. 7712 Rodden Road, Oakdale, CA 95361. (209) 847-9428.

Our cocktail reception will follow at The Hoyt's Residence located at 11412 Valley Oak Drive, Oakdale, CA. We'll provide directions later on.
